This event is in the past.

Dear Pony Clubbers,

Welcome to the New Season. We are now getting ready for the Next HKPC Camp which will be held at Tuen Mun Public Riding School from Saturday October 18th to Monday October 20th inclusive. Spaces are very limited due to the limited number of ponies we are able to hire from the Riding Schools. This is a mixed age camp and is open to all HKPC members who are aged 7yrs and above.

Members who are on the lead rein will be able to register but spaces will be dependant on our ability to get suitable lead rein ponies and people to lead them.

If any members have their own horse/pony on full livery and would like to bring them to camp please email the secretary and we will try to accommodate you.

Registration will close on Monday 22nd September

Please note, registration is not complete until confirmation of internet/ATM payment has emailed, or cheque has been received.

Detailed times will be sent with confirmation emails, but camp will around 8.30am every day and finish at 6pm on Saturday & Sunday.  Monday is competition day and there will be Equitation and Show Jumping. For operational reasons we now hold both competitions in the morning rather than spreading them out over the day. The competition is followed by a BBQ and Prize Giving and will finish at around 2pm.

Activities: Each child will be paired with another member and will share a horse/pony with them for the whole of camp. They will ride in groups of up to 6 for 2 hrs per day on Sun and Mon, then on Tues they will compete in an Equitation and a Show Jumping Class. Though the riding is obviously the highlight, one of the very important parts of camp is learning how to look after the ponies, something which in Hong Kong is not very easy to do.  During camp each pair will be responsible for administering to all their ponies needs, that means mucking out the stables, cleaning their water bowls, grooming, tacking up, washing down, talking to them and generally making a fuss of them!

The younger, less experienced campers will have lots of help and will learn how to do all these things during camp. There will also be non stable activities such as horsey arts and crafts.

Food: On the first day campers are asked to bring a packed lunch, the second day we order in Pizzas and McDonalds, and on the third day there will be a BBQ with burgers, hot-dogs and a variety of salads. Throughout camp there will be water and squash available, as well as unlimited fruit and snacks. On the final day
we ask parents to please bring a salad or dessert, the HKPC will provide all burgers, hot dogs, condiments etc.

Volunteers: As you know, these camps cannot run without the help from volunteers, and we always struggle to find enough people. So please if you are free we would really appreciate your help.

General Information
Parents may come to watch and support their children in the Show on the last day of Camp, but for the Sunday and Monday, please, only parents who are scheduled to help.

If Camp is over-subscribed, family names will be drawn out of a hat once registration has closed and you will receive an email informing you of whether you have a place or not.
If you do not receive a place, you will be given priority at the next available camp.

Indemnity, medical and permission forms will be sent to campers who receive a place after September 20th.
