The Hong Kong Jockey Club runs an annual team competition called the HKJC's Children's Challenge Cup for children age of 12 years or under on September 22nd 2017. This is the fifth year that the competition has been running. There are a total of four competitions that we will be doing, the last one being the finals at Beas river Equestrian Centre.
The dates are as follows:
- 20 Oct 2017 – LoWu Saddle Club
- 3 Nov 2017 – Clear Water Bay Equestrian Center
- 8 Dec 2017 – Tuen Mun Public Riding School
- 5 Jan 2017 – Beas River Equestrian Center (Final)
The competition will be equitation jumping (judged on style not speed!) and there will three rounds: 20cm, 30cm and 50cm, each team will have one member jumping each height.
Each of the participating clubs will be putting forward teams of three riders for each of the 5 competitions. The competitions will take place on Friday nights at 6.30pm and there will be one per month. Five riding schools will be hosting the competitions and the finals will be at Beas River. The HKPC squad will consist of three riders to compete in all of the competitons.
The idea is for more children to gain confidence and valuable competition experience competing on borrowed ponies away from their regular riding venue.
