Dear Pony Clubbers,
The HKPC Mixed Camp will be held at Tuen Mun Public Riding School from Wednesday March 30th to Friday April 1st inclusive. Spaces are very limited due to the limited number of ponies we are able to hire from the Riding Schools. This is a Junior Camp and is open to HKPC members who are aged between 7yrs and 13yrs.
If any members have their own horse/pony on full livery and would like to bring them to camp please email the secretary and we will try to accommodate you.
Registration will close on Sunday 13th March.
Please note, registration is not complete until confirmation of internet/ATM payment has emailed, or cheque has been received.
PLEASE ALSO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE JOINED OR RENEWED YOUR MEMBERSHIP BEFORE REGISTERING FOR CAMP.
Detailed times will be sent with confirmation emails, but camp will start around 8.30am every day and finish at 6pm on Day 1 and Day 2. Day 3 is competition day, the competition will be followed by a BBQ and Prize Giving and will finish at around 2pm.
Activities: Each child will be paired with another member and will share a horse/pony with them for the whole of camp. They will ride in groups of up to 6 for 2 hrs per day on Day 1 and Day 2, then Day 3 will be competition day which may well be gymkhana games, but that could change!
Though the riding is obviously the highlight, one of the very important parts of camp is learning how to look after the ponies, something which in Hong Kong is not very easy to do. During camp each pair will be responsible for administering to most of their ponies needs, that means skipping out the stables, cleaning their water bowls, grooming, tacking up, washing down, talking to them and generally making a fuss of them!
The younger, less experienced campers will have lots of help and will learn how to do all these things during camp. There will also be non stable activities such as horsey arts and crafts.
Food: On the first day campers are asked to bring a packed lunch, the second day we order in Pizzas, and on the third day there will be a BBQ with burgers, hot-dogs and a variety of salads. Throughout camp there will be water and squash available, as well as unlimited fruit and snacks. On the final day we ask parents to please bring a salad or dessert, the HKPC will provide all burgers, hot dogs, condiments etc.
Volunteers: As you know, these camps cannot run without the help from volunteers, and we always struggle to find enough people. So please if you are free we would really appreciate your help.
Parents may come to watch and support their children in the Show on the last day of Camp, but for the Day 1 and Day 2, please, only parents who are scheduled to help.
If Camp is over-subscribed, and you do not receive a place, you will be given priority at the next available camp. Members who are on the priority list for Camp already will automatically be given a place when they register
Indemnity, medical and permission forms will be sent to campers who receive a place.
Any questions, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
